Using AI titles & categories for maximum efficiency
PromptCrate AI works best when you let it name your prompts and keep them filed. This guide shows you how to turn a growing pile of prompts into a searchable, reusable library.
AI-Generated Titles
When you paste a prompt, PromptCrate AI can generate a concise, descriptive title automatically. A good title turns a wall of text into a scannable library — you find what you need at a glance instead of re-reading every prompt.
- Generate the title right after pasting, while the prompt context is fresh.
- Keep titles under 8 words so the card grid stays readable.
- Edit the AI title if it misses nuance — it is a starting point, not final.
Category Organization
Categories are your top-level filing system. Group prompts by purpose (e.g. Marketing, Coding, Research) rather than by model or date. Each category gets its own color so you can recognize groups visually across the dashboard.
- Aim for 4–8 categories — enough to separate work, too many and you lose the overview.
- Assign a distinct color to each category for instant visual recognition.
- Write a one-line description so the category’s purpose stays clear over time.
Tags for Cross-Cutting Topics
Tags complement categories. A prompt lives in one category but can carry several tags, letting you slice across categories (e.g. a “tone: formal” tag spanning Marketing and Support).
- Use tags for attributes, not for duplicates of category names.
- Keep a small, consistent tag vocabulary — reuse tags instead of inventing synonyms.
An Efficient Workflow
Combine AI titles and categories into a repeatable loop: paste → generate title → assign category → add a tag or two → favorite the ones you reuse. Over time your library becomes a fast-retrieval system instead of a dumping ground.
- Favorite prompts you reach for weekly — the Favorites page surfaces them instantly.
- Use ⌘K (Cmd/Ctrl + K) to jump straight to any prompt by title, tag, or content.
- Regenerate the AI summary when you significantly edit a prompt so it stays accurate.
